If you do these things a lot, over time your Plex server will have stored a bunch of different variations of posters. All those variations are uploaded to the server and stored. When you experiment to have IMDb rating as overlay on posters, or if its won any Oscars etc. When this becomes much more of an issue is when you use /r/PlexMetaManager (PMM) and you "upload" many different versions of posters. In filesize, this wont matter much to the majority of Plex (Media Server) users. If its a item youve had for a long time and you changed favorite posters a lot, you are likely to see that all the previously used posters are still there (plus of course those that are shown as previews and can be pulled from a online source). You can simply check on this yourself by going to a item in your library and checking its available posters. That leaves you with 2 files for that one movie, the original plus the custom one. Except posters that are "manually" added to items but then go unused.įor example you have a movie and the poster that Plex pulled from wherever isnt to your taste, you upload a custom poster to Plex and use that instead.
